Earlier this month, more than 750 attendees from over 35 countries gathered in Barcelona, Spain, for what was certainly an event to remember. With such representation, this conference truly embodied the “I” in IWF. International, influence, and impact – your presence reflected your commitment to the fundamental values of our organization. And today, this “I” could not be more critical.
IWF Spain ensured that this year’s conference was brimming with Spanish culture, including not one, but fourperformances from local music and dance groups. Barcelona’s reputation as a beacon of history and innovation was clearly on display, from a panel on the city’s use of smart technology to the Spanish perspective on the future of the European Union. We also heard from a Sport Shero, FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura. Three IWF members – Shamim Jawad of IWF United Kingdom, Totsie Memela of IWF South Africa and Melek El Nimer of IWF Lebanon – were highlighted in a riveting Town Hall about girls’ access to education.
Spain is a growing force in fashion, home to Zara, MANGO and Desigual. We look at the phenomenal growth of the fashion industry and explore some of the innovative ways designers and manufacturers are making fashion more sustainable.
